The Well 52: Donna Letier

Tell us a little bit about yourself...
I'm the co-founder and CEO of Gardenuity, a company bringing gardening experiences to the wellness economy across the country through personalized container gardens and gardening experiences. I've spent 20 years in leadership in areas of operations, brand marketing, and product development. I take a data driven approach to opportunities, always bringing the consumer point of view into focus. I live in Dallas with my husband Scott Letier and two daughters, one of whom is a Special Olympic Gold Medalist.

What is the most important thing you do for your wellness?
Garden! For my patio gardens I go outside early in the morning and take a little time to water them, see what is growing, what has grown, and let the moments nurturing nature nurture me. Then, when I get to work, prior to turning on my computer I take 5 or 10 seconds and mist my desktop garden. During these few seconds it gives me a chance to take a deep breath and think of one thing I am grateful. These small microsteps have turned into macro movements that I value as part of my selfcare routine. I am also a huge advocate for staying hydrated and I love herb infused water and work to discover new combinations every week.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to others?
Listen with the intent of learning.

What is one quote/ mantra you live by?
Never, ever give up- growing takes patience, perseverance, resilience, and faith.

Brag on yourself- what is something you are REALLY proud of?
I am the mother of a Gold Medal Olympic Athlete- my youngest daughter has won four gold medals in Special Olympics. I am proud of my two girls- who show me everyday what love looks like.

Anything else you'd like to add?
The intersection of gardening and wellness is happening in real-time. I am beyond proud to be a part of the team who is creating this exciting new catatory of well-being. Backed by science, proven by people around the world- the team at Gardenuity is making gardens and gardening experiences accessible to everyone. We have three pillars- Food is Medicine, Mental Health, and the Health of the Planet- all three are keys to wellness.
